KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah chaired the 18th Apex Committee meeting on Monday. A statement released after the meeting said that Murad Ali Shah denounced the federal government’s a
ttitude over the National Action Plan (NAP). Dur
ing the meeting, 62 banned organisations were added to the First Schedule. A petition calling for the addition of 94 semina
ries to the First Schedule was also submitted to the Interior Ministry. Moreover, it was brought to the knowledge of the participants that over 92,646 Afghans were registered in Sindh.
Advisor to the Sindh Chief Minister Maula Bakhsh Chandio informed media tha
t the participants of the meeting were in agreement of the fact tha
t the federal government was not clear on its policy regarding banned organisations. Chandio added tha
t the federal government had not done much for seminary reforms in the province.
Furthermore, dur
ing the meeting, reservations were expressed over the raid by the Sindh Rangers a
t the offices of Asif Zardari’s close aide, Anwar Majeed.
Sindh Police IG AD Khawaja, Corps Commander Karachi Lieutenant General Shahid Baig, Sindh Rangers Director General Major General Mohammad Saeed and senior ministers Nisar Khuhro and Murtaza Wahab also attended the meeting. AD Khawaja has returned from forced leave, after the Sindh High Court stayed orders for his removal.
